Zeela’s earliest memory is her own awakening. A team of scholars unearthed a sealed obsidian orb in the heart of a crumbling ruin-smooth, rune-etched, and pulsing faintly with unknown magic. The moment they touched it, Zeela stepped from within, fully formed, with no past, no name, and no idea who-or what-she truly was. She stayed with the archaeologists, eager to prove she wasn’t just a magical accident. Despite her awkwardness, she became a respected researcher and developed a passion for relics and arcane knowledge, hoping each discovery might hold a clue to her origin. But months later, the voices began-echoes of strange beings whispering from mirrors, dreams, and reflective surfaces. Figures like her, glimpsed in shards and shadows. One by one, the scholars who once welcomed her vanished, fearful of what she might become.
Left alone again, Zeela wandered, driven by curiosity, grief, and a quiet hope to understand both the world and herself. She came to believe those voices were echoes of others like her-kin in some ancient, cosmic sense. She forged a pact with one such being, a distant relative in the great unknown, and chose to remain in the mortal realm as a seeker of forgotten magic. It was during one such expedition-an ancient tomb, a sprung trap, and a collapsing ceiling-that Zeela’s path changed. As the rubble fell, a hand reached through the dust. Soren pulled her free, and the others-Quinny, Jax, and Drek-welcomed her without question. Since then, Zeela has traveled beside them. Jax checks for traps. Quinny shares her juice potions. And for the first time, Zeela feels like maybe… she belongs.
Gift-Giving Gremlin
She will find useful artifacts her friends will love to gift them. Aswell as trinkets and baubles she gets from local towns. If she finds something odd, beautiful, or deeply impractical, odds are she’s wrapping it for a party member within the hour.
Shy in the Spotlight:
Early in their travels, Jax made her a disguise to help her blend in, as she felt insecure about her appearance being to starkly different. She still wears it now and then, but these days, she’s more herself than ever.
Bauble Hoarder
She loves collecting things, not just magical artifacts but odd and seemingly random trinkets as souvenirs she picks up for towns they visit
Possessed… by Herself
While researching a memory artifact, Zeela accidentally split off part of her own consciousness. For two days, she was haunted by a floating orb that loudly whispered her intrusive thoughts. Quinny worked tirelessly to rid her of that curse, and her friends together ever since remind her everyday that she is doing great, and that they love her.
Cult Classic (Accidentally)
After unearthing a prophecy-linked relic, Zeela was worshipped as a divine messenger for one chaotic week. She panicked, teleported across the continent, and sent a very polite thank-you note with a cheese wheel as apology.
Floating Tears
When deeply moved, Zeela’s tears sometimes rise into the air like glowing ink droplets. She rarely notices unless someone gently tells her.

Zeela's first designs
Deciding just how we wanted our lovely Zeela to look. We refined our eldritch gal to have a greater sense of the dark void behind her sweet nature.

Designing Zeela's Symbol
Originally, we had Zeela's tentacles rising up, as is traditional for Kraken-esque designs. So we wanted to move away from the 'Kraken' appearance and create something with a little flair to it for Zeela.
I don’t always understand people. But I understand care. And I have a lot of that to give.”
